Where: Meetings are held in various locations including York, Lake Wylie and Gastonia.

What: Lake Wylie Boater Safety Course offered monthly
When: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every third Saturday, except December
Details: US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 26-02 offers this Boating Safely Course. Cost is $35 for first family member and $10 for each addition family member.

What: 2013 Captain Clueless Race for the Cup
When: August 3rd
Details: The team that figures out the clues, finds the challenge location and completes the challenge in the shortest time wins. Proceeds go to the Lake Wylie Children’s Charity. This year’s event is helping the family of 3-year-old Emma Rose Poplin-Revels of Fort Mill, who has been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

What: USA Wakeboard Nationals
When: Sept. 27-29
Where: in Lake Wylie at Ebenezer Park
Details: A $15,000 cash-prize purse is being offered for the Pro Men and Pro Women divisions. The USA Wakeboard Nationals is open to men and women of all ages and all levels of riding. The Nationals are made up of 11 divisions, including Pro Men, Pro Women and Wakeskate.
